Mark, Helena, Lori, Anne and Roy at the Swizzle Inn
On Saturday afternoon, November 11th, Roy and Helena Noel arrived in Bermuda for an all too short 6 day visit. In keeping with tradition, their first stop was at the Swizzle Inn (about 2 minutes from the airport) to get "Swizzled in" and meet up with friends Mark and Anne Slater. After several of the rum concoctions, the Noels were ready for the "Tour of the Island" boat ride the next day in Mark's boat.

The first day of their visit was a bit cloudy but warm, and the ocean was calm. A great first day! The following days were beautiful and sunny.

The graceful schooner, Spirit of Bermuda, wound her way into busy Hamilton harbour – trailed by a welcoming flotilla of more than 20 colourful pleasure cruisers – just after 1.30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30th/06.

The Island's first sail training vessel, is now based at Dockyard, as seen at left when we cruised by a few weeks later.

As before, most of the pictures are "clickable" in that they will enlarge if you desire to see more detail.

Roy and the girls

In these images Roy shows his true colors as a ham. As you can see by the sky, it is beautiful weather for November. Of course, a bigger "ham" can be seen below...

Roy and Helena hamming it up on their rental scooter

Roy rented a scooter for a day, just to experience two wheels in Bermuda. I think he was a bit disappointed in the power of the 50 cc engine, whereby one travels about with the throttle cranked wide open, even at stop signs! Car rental is not available on the island and visitors who wish their own transportation can only rent a maximum 50cc bike.

My next toy .... all 150cc's of it! This full dressed "Hog" is just one of several available to buy at this custom design chopper shop that Roy found. Bermudian Law sets a limit on the size of a motorcycle engine to 150 cc maximum. Can you imagine the size of the pistons in this V-Twin?

As when every visitor arrives, every day involves discovery of different and interesting parts of Bermuda. This day we headed for the caves. Pictured at right is the cave found at The Grotto Bay Hotel. The cave was once a fully functioning nightclub frequently patronized by Hugh Hefner, among other famous notables.

Party time at the Goodwin's. An evening of music, good food and extremely cheap wine.
Gate to the ocean at the Coral Beach Club
Another gorgeous view. In Bermuda one can find access to many beaches and great picture taking opportunities around every corner. At this time of the year most every beach is devoid of people although the sun is still hot and the water warm.
Roy and Mark get adventurous (with the bike I mean)
Howard Bay ~ this was a discovery to us as well as our company. Located in the gated community of Tucker's Point, access to this gem of a beach isn't usually allowed.

All too soon, their visit is over and it's back to Canada for Roy and Helena.

A week after they leave we get this picture from them in our e-mail. Apparently they had over 50 cm of snow, -11 degree C temperatures and their power is out.

Yesterday, Lori and I were seeking shade in which to park the golf cart as the sun was too hot.

Not to rub it in ...:)
