The Knight Side:

In last months posting to "Life is a Beach" we concentrated on a very special event; Lori and my "joining in marriage". But many other events occurred which will find their way into this posting. The visits of Lori's mother and father and son Chase and a second visitation of part of my family, namely my brother Randy, his wife Lisa and my sister Jude kept us entertained all month.

So first we'll deal with the "outlaws" and then take a look at the next wave of visitors. The fine looking gentleman at the top of this page is Robin Knight, my new father-in-law. He is a great character and a fine man and I even think he likes me!

Lori's son and her parents arrived on May 27 for a two week stay. While Mom and Dad went for a nap after the long "red-eye" flight, Chase and I headed for the beach at Horseshoe Bay. That's Chase on the left.

For the first time we were able to utilize the Peugeot to it's full potential; picking up everyone plus their baggage at the airport and then day trips exploring the island. Here we are (right) at Nine Beaches where we relaxed close to the bar while Chase went swimming.

One of our excursions was to Black Beard's Restaurant where we had oysters, conch and rock fish and chips.

Part of any visit to Bermuda must include a boat ride so as to see the Island from the water. We are lucky in this regard as my good friends Mark and Anne Slater own a boat! Many thanks to them for a great day!

I think Rob and Elinor especially enjoyed the cruise as they have owned many boats in the past. The day was perfect and the company good.

Of course having a photographer for a mom, lucky Chase gets to be a model for much of Lori's image taking; whether hiking along Warwick Long Bay or golfing at The Southampton Princess Club.

The Goodwin Side:
On June 23rd, Randy, Lisa and Jude landed in Bermuda for a 12 day stay, or I should say party. Every day was full of activities. A new beach to swim, different reef to snorkel, restaurant to try out or bar to drink at.

We get a wedding gift! I know ....there should be a roll-over image showing what it is. A picnic back-pack which has already become our favorite.

It was great to bond with my little sister. I think she enjoyed the beautiful climate and people of Bermuda as well. I never knew she was so photogenic!

It was great to see my little brother again. Lisa and Randy just got back from Egypt and had to show us the "Egyptian Walk" on the beach at Tobacco Bay. I knew Randy would like Tobacco Bay because it has music and a beach bar.

At right we are comparing tans. The weather couldn't have been better for their visit and we all got a little burned from the sun.

Finally the "Family Photograph". The only one missing is the newest member of the Goodwin family, but she insisted that she be behind the camera. As you can tell by all the pictures, a great time was had by all this day.

Again Mark comes through with a boat tour of the Island of Bermuda. This time we followed the entire North coast, from tip to tip. What a day that was!

To the right is a wreck we pass often and is popular with snorkelers and scuba divers. I forget the name but will find out and enter it under the picture. In the water around the wreck are tons of fish that come right up to the boat in search of any bits of food you care to throw them.

Above is me of course on the bow of Mark's boat. It's my turn to haul up the anchor. I sincerely hope that Mark's next boat has an electric winch! At left is an idyllic picture of Flatts Inlet that Lori took as we motored through on our way to Harrington Sound.

Both these images are of Jude of course. I'm really pleased she had a good time. These pictures were taken at Horseshoe Bay.

After everyone left, Lori and I want to Elbow Beach and watched the 4th of July fireworks. I sat there thinking of missing July 1st at Rock Creek .... after 31 years of being there. A bit of home-sickness setting in.

So that's all for this month. Lots of pictures of family. It is the season for visitors. I'm hopeful my boys can come next. It is great fun when people come to visit. We experience all over again the wonderful first impressions of this beautiful land. And we get to party and lay about the beach all day .... what better reason to have fun.
