Hello everyone, and welcome to our posting for June (and probably July). On the morning of June third we took our eggs benny and a bottle of good champagne that we've been chilling since our marriage a year ago, outside onto the patio to toast to our good fortune, good health and happiness.
Click on either of us to see us at our anniversary breakfast.

So it's been spring here in Bermuda and just turning now into summer, with lots of rain and hot sun. Everything is very tropical and you can almost "see" the vegetation growing!

We've had visitors since the last posting and we're still trying to improve at the impossible game of golf, or at least I'm fruitlessly trying. Lori has become somewhat of an expert, paring and even birdieing most holes on our little club course. We also have a new member of the family in the form of a new Canon EOS 5D (Camera for the uninitiated). With this improved weapon, Lori is shooting even better imagery of Bermuda's bounty .... some of which you'll see here.

Speaking of family, out last posting showed mother Kiskadee in the nest outside our apartment. At left is a picture of her new chicks. We spent many a moment observing them bravely leaving the nest and taking wing for the first time.

Another member of our family is Bria, who every morning greets us at our door. At right you see her anxiously waiting for us to let her in. Lori put a frame around her in Photoshop.

After three grinding years at UBC, Lori's son Chase graduated and received his Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in history.

As a reward for this significant achievement, he got to come to Bermuda and play golf with his mom. Half way through the visit his girlfriend, Francine, joined him from Virginia. Pictured at left and below are the two of them on the beach.

So our first visitors of the year lucked out with the weather and got some sunny days

Of course Lori had lots of fun with her camera on these two.

Posing on some old steps carved out of the volcanic Bermudian stone, Francine becomes immortalized.

Not to be outdone, yours truly exposes his white skin at Horseshoe Bay.

Taking the new camera in hand, I try my skill at photography. This is usually the only time Lori gets to be displayed on these postings to Life is a Beach.

"Hey girl ... get up on that rock ... I don't care how sharp it is on your bare feet! Now smile for the camera!"

Above is the type of boat I was looking for ...open deck, lots of room to walk around and fish and be in the open air. The only problem is Lori. She wants a cabin cruiser. Some sort of superstructure where she can get out of the sunshine. So I had to compromise, of course, and get the boat on the right... a "cabin cruiser "! She can be inside and I can be outside (but not at the same time unfortunately). So I've traded in our convertible for this boat and plan to surprise Lori. Mouse over the image at right to see the details. (Oh ... I'm so excited!)

Did I mentioned that Lori has a new camera? It is a Canon EOS 5D.The quality of the images are vastly superior to the Canon 20 D, in that it is a "full format" camera. You can easily see the improvement in quality in the results. At left a self portrait and above the second growth of our wedding Lilies. Now we have to retake all the pictures of golf courses and beaches of Bermuda!
I'll have to remind all those who read these postings to be sure and "click" on the images to see them expanded fully as these tiny images don't do them credit.

Speaking of re shooting golf courses .... here is a shot of one of the holes at St. Georges Golf Course that Lori took with her new camera while playing golf with our third visitor this year .... our friend Eric. Although you can't see Eric all that clearly, you can see that the colors are much more vivid. Believe it or not, there was no "Photoshopping" of this image. Eric stayed with us for a few days while attending a wedding on the island and managed to get in a few games of golf.

So lets get back to what life is all about ...the beach!

At left is a picture of me leaving my favorite stop called Henry's Pantry, which is our local beer and wine store. This is a usual stop made on the way to spending a day at the beach.

You'll recognize, by now, the image to the right. Our little Cross Bay beach across the road.

A good book, a glass of wine and plenty of sunshine. And then there is food ... HEY! How come this isn't cooking!

The BBQ is compliments of the public drop off and is perfect for the beach. After cooking the food it makes a great little campfire to sit around and tell scary stories while watching the sun go down.

On a recent trip to St. Georges, Lori took these pictures. The dog in the window was a must take photo op.

I'm getting used to the cry,"Stop the car" while she jumps out with her camera ready.

The ladies to the right were shot while driving by. I think they are on their way to throw rotten fruit at some poor guy in the stocks.

Often, while I'm slaving away at the Incinerator, and the light is right, Lori will take off in the Cabriolet with her equipment to take pictures.

At left is an image of a driveway I thought I should show you. Much of Lori's photography can now be viewed on her "Web Gallery" which is linked to www.rossgo.com Soon we hope to have her own web site set up. We are just trying to think of a good name. I suggested www.SayCheese.com but she thought it a bit tacky... :(
If anyone has a good idea for a name, by all means please email us. Email us anyway ... we would love to hear from you!

More examples of Lori's photography above and below. An empty bench at Fort Scour just waiting for someone to sit and take in the view. The little boats have been manipulated in Photoshop and represent a play in colour. I think it would look great framed on a wall!
At left is me in the water at Horseshoe Beach. It was a windy day and Lori would only peek around from her rock shelter. Above is a colorful fence around a boat in Dockyard at the West end of Bermuda..

And I can't leave off this posting without a picture of Lori's best pal here... our golf pro and teacher ...." Mr. C". Leo just turned 80 and is a great guy. If either of us happen to be at the driving range when he is there, he'll always stop and give us a quick lesson. He has taught us a lot and if we are off our game, a half an hour with Leo will straighten us out.

So that is all for this posting to Life is a Beach. Brother Randy and his best friend Johnny Vosburg are due to arrive in a few days. It should be a great time. Wishing all who visit this site good health and a great summer.

We'll leave you with a final picture of Mangrove Bay, one of Lori's favorite subjects on these beautiful islands.
